Has anyone experienced or heard about Apple Pay scams? How do scammers trick people and how can I protect myself?
Hi Aria_Ward, Apple Pay itself is very secure, but scams often target your Apple ID or linked bank accounts through phishing and other tricks.
How to Protect Yourself:
- Secure Your Device: Use a strong passcode/PIN and enable Face ID/Touch ID.
- Spot Phishing: Be extremely cautious of emails, texts, or calls asking for your Apple ID, bank, or card details. Apple/banks will not request this unsolicited. Verify senders carefully.
- Use Official Channels: Only manage Apple Pay settings and linked accounts through your device’s Wallet app or official bank applications.
- Enable 2-Factor Authentication (2FA): For your Apple ID and all linked bank accounts.
- Keep Software Updated: Always install the latest iOS updates for security patches.
- Monitor Transactions: Regularly check your bank statements for any unusual activity.
